Paramedic Jamie Monks

Jamie Monks BSc (Hons) MCPara

Jamie is one of our Paramedics in the SIMCAS team, and he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of pre-hospital emergency medical care to the scheme.

After joining an NHS Ambulance Trust in 2013, he began his Ambulance career in the Emergency Operations Centre as an Emergency Medical Advisor, who handles 999 calls, and as a Resource Dispatcher thereafter. Whilst working in the control room, he went out on several observer shifts on the frontline which encouraged him to become a volunteer Community First Responder (CFR). He soon caught the bug of pre-hospital emergency care and applied to become a Emergency Care Support Worker. He then later got accepted onto the Paramedic degree programme. 3 years later, he graduated from St. George’s, University of London with a BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science, and continue to practice with an NHS Ambulance Trust.

Along with 6 years of frontline pre-hospital emergency care experience, Jamie also brings a wealth of experience of working in large-scale events, such as Goodwood’s world-renowned Festival of Speed and the Revival, providing crowd and trackside medical cover for the last 6 years, but also at Cowdray Park’s Polo grounds with Platinum Ambulance Service, including the prestigious Gold Cup, becoming one of the regular faces of the medical team and developing a fantastic and trust-worthy working relationship with them along the way.

Jamie’s focus has always been on pre-hospital Trauma Care and Resuscitation and hopes to continue to deliver and develop this care to the highest standard with the SIMCAS team.

What’s he doing when he’s not working? Well you’ll either find him in the gym throwing a barbell around, or out on his paddle-board (if it’s shorts and t-shirt weather!)
