Car crash Wadhurst

A woman driver died today following her car leaving the road and colliding with a tree in Wadhurst Lane, Frant. Emergency services were called after a passer by came across the crash site and dialled 999. Recognising that the driver was lifeless he started CPR whilst awaiting help initially provided by the East Sussex Fire Brigade crew from Wadhurst. First ambulance responder on scene was volunteer SIMCAS nurse Tony Kemp who, working with fire service colleagues took over resuscitation attempts whilst the remainder of the Fire crew worked to free the trapped woman.

Tony said “The teamwork was outstanding; the passerby’s efforts were superb in very difficult circumstances and the efforts of the Fire Service crew were outstanding. Unfortunately despite quite heroic efforts the woman was certified dead at the scene”. An ambulance and the air ambulance also attended the incident and joined the efforts to save the woman.
