Medical “Major Incident” at Five Ashes

A car was in collision with bus at Five Ashes on the A26 on Monday the 13th of May 2013.  Multiple casualties were reported and so the Air Ambulance containing SIMCAS member Dr John Chatterjee and a car based SIMCAS member, Dr Alan Pearce were both dispatched to the scene along with the other emergency services.

Two more seriously injured adults inside the bus were treated on scene and taken to the Royal Sussex County hospital in Brighton along with 3 other casualties. Five more walking wounded were transported to the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury.

Special arrangements had to be made due to the number of injured but the situation was soon under control and people were removed from the bus via help from the Fire Service.  The road was completely closed for several hours due to the obstruction and crash investigation.
